Emergency Medical Consulting

CPR and First Aid Training

Website

I started Emergency Medical Consulting in 1997 to meet the demand for my expertise in teaching emergency medical treatment. I became an EMT and CPR Instructor in 1990 and worked as an EMT in New York City's 911 system from 1992 through 1997. Then again for one day in September 2001.

My experience as the busiest instructor in NYC lead to my certification as an Instructor Trainer, co-writing the NYC Regional EMS Council's defibrillator training program, writing custom First Aid programs in response to specific fatal incidents and, in total, issued over 32,000 CPR cards. Many have told moving stories of using the techniques they learned from me.

My client list includes hospitals, Fortune 500 corporations, Ivy League Universities, unions, small businesses and private medical offices. I am extending my consulting to include corporate disaster response preparation and quality improvement of hospital care.

2007 started with my participation in a dramatic out of CPR save of a restaurant worker in a Cuban restaurant on my block

Writing

Tape Op Magazine

Website

I began writing for Tape Op magazine immediately after reading my first copy in 2000. I found it to be the best source for creative stimulation in the field of recording and immediately wanted to be a part of it. I started by reviewing equipment and expanded to writing feature articles such as Analog Tape as a Signal Processor and an in depth interview with mix engineer Michael Brauer on his multi-buss compression techniques which has become one of the definitive text on mix compression and is still researched regularly by engineers of all skill levels.

2007 has brought new developments and techniques, including Two Stage Compression, which is the culmination of an addition four years of compression experimentation and will be in the 2007 AES issue. Additionally there will be the first video version of a Tape Op article available on the web and YouTube to coincide with this article.

I have been the moderator for every Tape Op Conference Compressor panel as well as developing panels and potluck studio demos on how to use distortion artistically. I have an extensive list of gear reviews and articles in the works.

Director & DP

Website

I initially purchased a pair of HD video cameras to develop a TV version of Tape Op magazine. That has no evolved into Monster Island TV, launching in the Fall of 2007. While shooting the pilots, I've ended up directed and editing, several music videos, and working on some experimental art films, one, being a very unique concept shot in Times Square partnership with acclaimed director Tony Kaye.

In many cases, I shoot bands in the studio while recording them. In May 2007, I directed and DP'd a three camera shoot of 10 days in the studio with The Takeover UK. The resulting 75 hours of footage captured every final take of each songs that will make the album.
